The District offers dental coverage so you and your family can receive the care needed to maintain good dental health.
For those employees participating in dependent coverage in one of the District-sponsored Medical plans (Kaiser or Aetna), you have the choice to waive the District-sponsored Delta Dental plan coverage and have the district paid premium applied to your medical plan premiums, thereby lowering the required payroll deduction for dependent coverage. The payroll deductions are broken down under the medical plan contribution section.
Dependent children are eligible for Delta Dental benefits up to age 19. However, if the dependent child is enrolled in school full time eligibility is up to age 25. The dental eligibility differs from medical eligibility.
If you have a dependent child who is approaching age 19, please send to the Benefits Office the child's current school schedule showing full time enrollment, child's name and school's name. The employee's name must also be written on the schedule. Full time enrollment for most colleges and universities is 12 units. If the schedule is not received, the child will be automatically dropped by Delta at age 19.
It is extremely important that the employee's name is written on the school schedule.
The school schedule only needs to be submitted when the child is approaching 19 and when asked for by Delta or the District.
